Sen. Corker Applauds Supreme Court Decision Upholding Federal Ban on Partial-Birth Abortion

Statement

Date: April 18, 2007
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Abortion

U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) today praised the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the federal ban on the procedure of partial-birth abortion.

"I'm very pleased the U.S. Supreme Court today agreed that partial-birth abortion should be outlawed," said Corker. "This procedure is one that most Tennesseans agree is cruel and inhumane."

The Court's 5-4 decision ruled that the Partial Birth Abortion Act, which was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush in 2003, is constitutional.
