BIA rules on Meskwaki Tribal Election Results

Sen. Chuck Grassley today issued the following comment after learning that the Bureau of Indian Affairs had ruled on the administrative appeal of the recognition of the Meskwaki Tribal election results.

Yesterday, Grassley called the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs to ask for an expedited ruling on the appeal. He's been working with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the National Indian Gaming Commission to resolve the issues that have kept the casino closed.

Here is Grassley's statement.
"This ruling removes the last remaining obstacle before the casino can be reopened. I expect the National Indian Gaming Commission to lift the closure of the casino at anytime. This would be an early Christmas present for nearly 1300 people who want to get back to work."
