CARTER: "WHAT'S THE HOLD UP PELOSI?"

House Conference Secretary Congressman John Carter (R-TX) released the following statement today calling on Democratic Leadership to schedule a vote on H.Res. 644, a resolution cosponsored by Congressman Carter that condemns MoveOn.org's cowardly attack on General Petraeus. The Senate overwhelmingly passed a similar resolution authored by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) last week.

"The attacks made by MoveOn.org on the day that General Petraeus delivered his testimony to Congress were appalling and shameful. Not only did the ad blatantly disrespect the General, but it also took a cheap shot at our men and women in uniform who are fighting for our freedom.

"I applaud my colleagues in the Senate for taking a courageous position and publicly reaffirming the credibility of General Petraeus. Many Democrats have spoken out against the ad, and even the New York Times admitted that running the ad violated its own written standards of decency. I ask the House Leadership to stop the political battles within this establishment and call a vote on this resolution Now is the time to show our enemies that this House of Representatives respects the service and sacrifice of General David Petraues."
