Media Statement: Ellison on White House Financial Services Proposal

"Finally the Bush Administration is beginning to take the mortgage crisis seriously; it is disappointing that it has taken the Administration this long to address the primary cause of this crisis. A ten-minute walk through the main streets and neighborhoods of Minnesota plagued by foreclosures and abandoned properties would have put a family face on this problem."

"But the inaction by the Bush Administration should not come as a surprise to anyone. From their failed policies in Iraq to their lax oversight of the housing markets, this Administration has been AWOL from day one about the day-to-day realities of working families in Minnesota and across the country."
