Boozman: Don't Increase Taxes

Press Release

Date: April 15, 2008
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today, Tax Day, encouraged the government to be fiscally responsible with taxpayer dollars.

As millions of Americans file their taxes to meet the deadline for 2007 income taxes Boozman says tax reform is needed and tax cuts need to be made permanent, but a budget passed by House Democrats in March calls for a $683 billion tax hike, the largest tax increase in American history.

"During this time of economic uncertainty where American families are paying more for food and gas and facing a challenging housing market, what we need to do in Washington is decrease taxes," Boozman said.

Under the House Democrat's Budget, the average Arkansas taxpayer is expected to pay nearly $2,500 more in taxes next year.

"We need to control spending at the federal level so Americans can spend their hard earned money on what they enjoy doing. Increasing taxes shouldn't be an option on the table," Boozman said.
