Statement


Justice Daniel J. Crothers was born January 3, 1957, in Fargo, North Dakota. He grew up in West Fargo, American Samoa, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, graduating from Eldorado High School in Albuquerque in 1975 and from the University of North Dakota in 1979. He graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1982. After law school, he clerked for the Honorable Ramon Lopez of the New Mexico Court of Appeals from 1982-1983. He then returned to North Dakota, going into private practice in Grafton and serving as Walsh County Assistant State's Attorney from 1983-1984. From 1984-1985, he was in private practice in Sante Fe, New Mexico. In 1986, he returned to Fargo, where he was in private practice from 1987-2005. He was president of the State Bar Association of North Dakota from 2001-2002. In June 2005, Governor John Hoeven appointed Crothers to the North Dakota Supreme Court. He and his wife Holly have two children. Justice Crothers has served 2 years, 9 months, and 18 days on the Bench as of May 2, 2008.
