Moran to Obama: ‘In No Way Should Military Delay'

Congressman Jerry Moran sent a letter today asking President Obama to reconsider his instruction to the Pentagon to delay for five years the Air Force's replacement of its aging aerial refueling tanker fleet.

"A timely and fair tanker competition is vital for the safety of our military personnel and the security of our country." Moran said. "A five year delay in building the next generation of tankers would be adding additional risk to military men and women as they perform missions around the world in an aging tanker fleet that was built over 47 years ago. This delay would affect the strength of our nation's defense and our Kansas workers. I hope that the President reconsiders and works to modernize the tanker fleet as soon as possible. In no way should our military delay this top priority."
