Price Statement on Expansion of Federal Funding for Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Congressman Tom Price issued the following statement in response to the Obama administration's expansion of federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.

"The Obama administration's new guidelines on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research demonstrate a profound lack of appreciation for the value of human life," said Congressman Price. "The unborn should be valued no less than any other human life. Human embryos are the most vulnerable forms of life, yet the Obama administration is creating taxpayer-funded incentives for their destruction. Great strides have been made in both adult and cord stem cell research, neither of which involve the destruction of human life.

"Human life is a gift, not a resource to be exploited and discarded. I call on the President to withdraw these new regulations and focus our scientific efforts on research that values human life, not research that destroys it."
