The treasurer plays an essential role in managing the Alabama Trust Fund (ATF). The ATF is a $2.6 billion investment portfolio built from the proceeds of the sale of our state's offshore oil and gas reserves. As a financial advisor to the Finance Department and as the Deputy Finance Director, I have performed certain duties for the ATF. I have also observed the Treasurer's role and assisted in that Office's ATF management activities. Within the past two years, I have helped the Treasurer's Office improve its performance and have helped improve investment returns to the ATF. The ATF is a critical asset to the state. As such, it must be prudently managed for the benefit of the state today and for generations to come. My extensive investment management experience would be of great value as treasurer, which in turn would be of great value to the state.
