Terry Disappointed in Senate EPA Vote

Statement

Date: June 10, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Lee Terry issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate failed to pass a resolution to disapprove of the Environmental Protection Administration's plans to regulate greenhouse gas emissions Under the Clean Air Act.

"Today's Senate vote was the wrong decision that will lead to more government regulation into environmental issues," said Congressman Terry. "We must clean up our environment, but not at the expense of giving the EPA overreaching powers without the approval of Congress. Our country needs a comprehensive energy reform policy that includes developing alternative energy sources, opening up resources in the United States and increasing our conservation efforts. An "all of the above' plan will put our country on the path to energy independence, but if we continue to give free rein to government agencies, we will not reach that goal."
