Cassidy: Court's Decision On Moratorium A "Victory for Louisiana Workers"

Press Release

Date: July 8, 2010
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Energy

Louisiana Congressman Bill Cassidy hailed today's ruling from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upholding a Federal District Court's decision to overturn the Obama Administration's blanket moratorium on deepwater energy production:

"This is a victory for Louisiana workers," said Cassidy. "Science, facts, and reason indicate that a blanket moratorium is unnecessary. It is time for the Administration to end its assault on Louisiana jobs, and let our welders, pipefitters, and roustabouts get back to making the United States less dependent on OPEC."

On June 15, Cassidy introduced the Gulf Coast Jobs Preservation Act to overturn the deepwater moratorium. He will join the Tea Party of Louisiana for a Town Hall Meeting on the moratorium Monday, July 12 in Baton Rouge.
