CEGAVSKE SUPPORTS IMPROVING PUBLIC EDUCATION

Senator Cegavske has devoted much of her political career to promoting excellence in education. Her two sons attended and graduated from Nevada public schools. As a mother, she fully understands that quality public education is the foundation for our state's future and for Nevada's economic success. Senator Cegavske is firmly committed to making our schools better.

Cegavske Supports School Choice

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. When it comes to public education, the status quo does not work. We've tried the same approach for years and we are getting the same poor result. Senator Cegavske believes we must give parents the right to choose which school their children attend. This will create competition within our public education system and lead to a better education for our children.

Cegavske Supports Charter Free Schools

Senator Cegavske knows what works in public education. A good example is the KIPP network of charter schools that has produced tremendous results by simply increasing the amount of time children spend learning the basic subjects. Senator Cegavske believes that all parents should have the option to send their children to charter schools that provide students with more time in the classroom.

Cegavske Supports Class-Size Reduction

Senator Cegavske is a firm believer in class-size reduction through flexibility. School principals should be given more authority to balance class-size within their own schools. Senator Cegavske recognizes that this common sense approach will create a more productive environment for children of all ages.
