Boswell's Education Plan A 'Race to the Bottom'

Brad Zaun, candidate for Iowa's 3rd Congressional District, responded today to press statements issued by the Boswell campaign:

"Leonard Boswell has consistently undercut Iowa's local school districts with his stance that only the federal government knows what's best for our Iowa school kids. He consistently supports taking decisions away from our local school boards, and having Washington, DC dictate to us. I am, and always will be, an advocate for local control of education decisions," Zaun stated.

Zaun added, "Congressman Boswell thinks that all knowledge resides in Washington, DC, and this is reflected in almost everything he does. I disagree. Being married to a teacher, I understand what's going on very well. Despite increased spending, we are witnessing constantly declining performance. We have a problem that Washington, DC can not and will not solve."

"Iowa parents, local school boards and good teachers know how to best educate Iowa children, not bureaucrats in Washington, DC. Congressman Boswell's Education Plan and his approach to federalizing education can be best labeled a 'race to the bottom.'"
