Blog: Remembering September 11th

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2010

Today, we solemnly remember those who lost their lives in the tragic attacks of 9/11 and extend gratitude for those who bravely put themselves in harm's way to defend our nation. It is also a day to recognize that what unites this country is far greater than what divides us. We are one nation: diverse, proud and resilient. As we reflect on the significance of this anniversary, we must renew our commitment to the ideals that make this country great -- tolerance, courage and an unwavering hope for a brighter tomorrow. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the nearly 3,000 souls lost nine years ago and to the loved ones of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting us - firefighters, first responders and our men and women in the armed services.
