ObamaCare Will Increase Health Care Costs

Although Congressional Democrats and President Obama claimed that their government-run health care overhaul would bring down the cost of health care, this week the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) announced that it expects health care costs and spending to increase even more than it originally estimated. The CMS report estimates that health care will grow 6.3 percent per year and total health care spending will reach $4.6 trillion--nearly 20 percent of gross domestic product by 2019. In addition, as a result of the mandates contained in the health care law, it is expected that health care premiums will rise by as much as nine percent. Because the government-run health care law does not lower health care costs for the American people and increases government intrusion in personal decisions, Congressman Miller is working in Congress to repeal the bill and replace it with market-based solutions that will actually drive down the cost of health care.
