Issues: Senior Citizens Entitlements and the Safety Net

With proper planning and opportunities, Americans should be able to count on a safe and secure retirement. In addition to strengthening our Social Security program, I also believe that we should continue to provide incentives for Americans to privately save for their retirement years. I support increasing the annual contribution limits for IRAs in addition to enhanced tax credits that encourage low and middle-income families to save for the future. We must also work on improving the defined-benefit pension system so employers are able to live up to their promise to their employees.
