Rep. Becerra Applauds Launch of House Diversity Initiative

Press Release

Date: Dec. 20, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Today the House of Representatives launched a new online resume bank website as part of an ongoing effort to increase the diversity of staff at all levels. Following the launch of the site, Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-31), released the following statement:

"This is the People's House, and just as our membership represents the broad diversity of our nation, so too should our staff. This initiative will make sure that when we hire, we are reaching out to Americans from every community in the country. We all benefit from the variety of perspectives, experiences and ideas that are brought to the table by those who serve Congress as staff, and the American people benefit when their community is represented at that table."

The launch of the online resume bank builds on the House diversity initiative requiring House Officers and Legislative Branch agencies to present to the House Administration committee reports outlining the current state of diversity and plans to foster diversity at all levels within their organizations.
