Fleming Comments on Passage of Republican Appropriations Act

Statement

Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to pass H.R. 1, the Full Year Continuing Appropriations Act 0f 2011.

"Last Congress, Republicans made a promise to the American people that we would get federal spending under control. We also promised that we would do it under an open and transparent process. After 4 days and nights of open debate and hundreds of amendments, the Republican Majority passed a bill that makes substantial cuts to federal spending in fiscal year 2011. Every day American families sit down at their dinner tables and balance their budgets. With over $14 trillion dollars in debt and 21 straight months of over 9% unemployment, it's time their government does the same thing. Over the next few months, Republicans will continue to propose policies that get the government out of the way and allow the free-market to do what it does best -- create jobs."
