Louisiana Congressman Bill Cassidy M.D. issued the following statement in advance of the one year anniversary of the tragic explosion and subsequent destruction of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig.

"One year ago, America lost 11 sons in the Deepwater Horizon accident. A year later we still mourn their loss and recognize their contributions to Louisiana and the nation.

"We have made progress in repairing the economic and ecological damage. It is our responsibility to the memory of those who died to do our best that the damage be repaired and such an event never happen again."
