Boozman Votes to Rein in Reckless Spending

Press Release

U.S. Senator John Boozman today issued the following statement after the Senate voted on opening debate on four separate budget proposals:

"Today, each Senator was put on record as to whether or not they are serious about reining in reckless spending. I voted to move two proposals that would put us on a path to a balanced budget to the floor for debate. Meanwhile, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, who have failed to offer their own budget for over 750 days, voted against further consideration of each plan offered today, including their own President's proposal. The distinction could not be clearer."

"I am not committed to every point in Congressman Ryan's plan, but I commend his leadership in trying to get the debate started. Meanwhile, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle can't run fast enough away from the fact that they have no ideas or desire to lead our country away from fiscal collapse. We must rein in our spending and strengthen and protect programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security for current recipients and future generations. They seem to have no desire to address that fact."

"No business would survive without a budget for over 750 days and no household could function like that. So I ask my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, how is it acceptable to govern this way?"
