John Kline: 'Mr. President, Please Join Us in Supporting Our Plan for America's Job Creators'

Press Release

Congressman John Kline issued the following statement today welcoming the President to Minnesota's 2nd congressional district, where he will visit Cannon Falls later this morning:

"As the senior member of Minnesota's Republican Congressional delegation whose district includes Cannon Falls, I welcome the President to our great state and encourage him to listen to what an overwhelming majority of Minnesotans are telling me. Like most Americans, they are tired of policies that keep us on the path to national bankruptcy, saddle American job creators and workers with tax hikes, and burden small businesses with regulations and red tape that exacerbate our economic downturn.

"Despite lofty promises about the stimulus that became law in February, 2009, the national unemployment rate for July was 9.1 percent. In Goodhue County, where the President's campaign bus tour will make a visit later today, unemployment spiked nearly a point last month to nearly 7 percent. When our country needed a jobs plan, the President instead offered a spending plan that cost $1 trillion and created debt, not jobs.

"Unlike the President, Minnesotans know that small businesses, hard-working families, and entrepreneurs -- not the federal government -- are the key to job creation. Earlier this year, I was joined by House Republican colleagues in rolling out a broad agenda for America's job creators that is based on the belief that free markets are the foundation to economic growth and job creation and will help create jobs and get our economy back on track.

"Minnesotans keep asking "Where are the jobs?' Mr. President, please join us in supporting this plan for America's job creators. For the first time in your presidency, let's work together to put Minnesotans and Americans from around our great nation back to work."
