Carson Statement on Tenth Anniversary of 9/11

Statement

Date: Sept. 21, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman André Carson today released the following statement about the upcoming 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks:
______________________________________________________

"All Americans know where they were and what they were doing that morning of September 11, 2001. When I was told a second plane collided into the World Trade Center, I turned on my TV to see the heartbreaking destruction. I knew in that instant that the sense of security we had all taken for granted was shattered and our world had changed forever.

"But out of the unspeakable tragedy, we saw astounding acts of bravery and the unstoppable resolve of a unified America. We pledged to never forget that day and our acts since have affirmed that pledge.

"Ten years later, we can say to the families of the 9/11 victims that we did not rest until justice was done, and that we will continue to honor the memories of the lost -- our fellow citizens of all ages, religions, and races -- by always maintaining our vigilance and defending the highest ideals of America."
