Congresswoman Janice Hahn made the following statement in response to the death of Anwar al-Awlaki, a leading figure in al-Qaeda killed in an American drone strike in Yemen on Friday.

The death of Anwar al-Awlaki is a tribute to the steely leadership of President Obama and the tireless dedication of our intelligence community.

We must always remain vigilant. Though the death of no one terrorist can end the threat of violent extremism, the world is a safer place without al-Awlaki in it. Today I salute all the men and women in and out of uniform who work so hard to keep us safe.
