To mark the two-year anniversary of President Barack Obama signing the Affordable Care Act into law, Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-31), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and Ranking Member of the Social Security Subcommittee, released the following statement:

"Two years ago today, Democratic lawmakers and President Obama delivered on a promise to the American people to expand access to quality affordable health care, lower costs for our seniors, and protect our children and most vulnerable from being taken advantage of by the worst practices of insurance companies.

After two years of being the law of the land, the Affordable Care Act continues to deliver on that promise: 2.5 million more young adults now have health care coverage; over 5 million seniors have saved on average an extra $635 on their prescription drugs; 360,000 small business employers have used health care reform's tax credits to insure 2 million additional workers; and in less than two years, 30 million uninsured Americans will be able to purchase affordable health insurance coverage for their families.

Although some politicians would like to tell tall tales about health care reform, the reality is the Affordable Care Act is putting the American people and their doctors back in charge of their health care decisions. The historic health care reform law is making steady progress, providing much needed relief to America's seniors, small businesses and families."
