House Repeals Obamacare

U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo) joined 243 Members of the House of Representatives in voting for a full repeal of Obamacare. The vote to repeal came two weeks after the Supreme Court ruled the individual mandate constitutional as a tax, but struck down the mandate that states significantly expand Medicaid programs.

Despite being peddled to the public by the Administration as "anything-but-a-tax-increase," Obamacare imposes 20 new tax increases, a $675 billion burden spread out over businesses of all sizes and citizens of all incomes.

The pricey health taxes come with some unhealthy consequences with as many as 20 million workers in jeopardy of losing their employer-provided health insurance as a result of the law.

"House members said enough with the Obamacare surprises, the hidden taxes, the accounting gimmicks and the trillions added to our deficit in the long term," Rep. Lummis said. "By repealing Obamacare, we can improve the deficit picture and free the nation from the mother of all baits and switches--the individual mandate tax. Our country cannot afford Obamacare, neither the taxes nor the debt, and I applaud all the members of the House who recognized this by voting for repeal today."
