Green companies continue to grow in Tennessee but the state needs to recognize the industry is in its infancy. House Bill 3520 targeted solar property and would have created a burdensome tax increase of over 6,000 percent on this segment of the energy industry. The bill failed but this is an example of crippling an industry and destroying jobs.

Solar, wind and biofuel rebates and incentives are crucial for this new industry but we should not blindly throw money to these endeavors. We need to work to make sure state government is thoroughly accountable to taxpayers by putting every penny spent by a state agency online so taxpayers can see it.
