Issue Position

My focus is to REDUCE SPENDING

Despite the worst economic conditions in generations, the legislature's majority passed an historic tax and fee increase in our most recent budget that will affect us all. My fight against such proposals, including one that directly increased taxes on middle class families, has a simple philosophical foundation: Reduce Government Spending and Ease the Tax Burden on CT Families.

SOLUTIONS:

- Force state government to live within the consitutionally mandated spending cap
- Eliminate some of our highest paid employees through an early retirement program
- Evaluate "definted benefit" pension, one of the fastest growing pieces of the state budget, against the benefits of a "definied contribution" plan, similar to private sector pension plans around the country
