Congressman Richard E. Neal Applauds Senate Democrats for Taking Up DISCLOSE Act

Statement

Date: July 13, 2012
Location: Springfield, MA

With Senate Democrats voting on the DISCLOSE Act on Monday, Congressman Richard E. Neal released the following statement renewing his call for transparency.

"Along with my fellow Democrats in the House, I voted in favor of the DISCLOSE Act which would expose corporate special interests that are trying to buy our elections and force them to report expenditures. However, the right-wing Republican majority in the House voted with special interests and as a result, corporations run by the likes of Karl Rove can funnel millions of dollars into elections with no accountability.

"I am glad my Democratic Senate Colleagues are taking up the DISCLOSE Act, and I encourage the American people to voice their concerns to Republicans so once again elections can be decided in the ballot box and not by shadow special interests."
