Issue Position

t's been a privilege and honor to serve the good folks of Spokane for the last seven years in the State Legislature. Together, we've accomplished some great things for our region, and there is more to be done, especially now.

I am married to Kim, have three adult children and one granddaughter. Born and raised in Spokane, I continue to live in the same part of the Logan Neighborhood where my wife and I grew up.

Our family knows firsthand the challenges of getting by in this economy because we're experiencing them ourselves. After working steadily since she was 16, Kim is unable to get employment other than temporary part-time work. My elderly mother struggles with staying in the family home and keeping up her health.

My colleagues in the trades are in the worst construction economy in more than a generation. From our immediate and extended family to friends, neighbors and co-workers, it seems everyone is fighting to find or provide opportunities for themselves and their family.

It's easy to talk about the frustration and resentment with government; it's an entirely different thing to go about resolving our most difficult problems. I am proud of my record supporting education opportunities, affordable healthcare, good jobs with benefits, environmental stewardship and a solid social safety net to protect the most vulnerable among us.

Spokane can continue to be a great example of how deal with challenges and solve problems. I ask for your vote to continue doing just that.

My own experiences as a husband, father, son and construction worker have taught me the value of teamwork to find common sense solutions. Born and raised in Spokane, I know firsthand the challenges we face. I will continue working for you to focus on the issues that matter most to all of us.
