Issue Position: Limit Federal Intrusion in State Rights

Issue Position

President Obama believes they can set up programs and policies better than individual states, local governments, businesses and individuals. In recent years, the federal government has passed many unfunded mandates upon the states that supersede local laws and increase the cost of living on families and businesses. The health care and insurance mandates, environmental regulations, energy production regulations, transportation planning requirements, and education accountability requirements have all increased the cost to taxpayers in Texas. I know Texas can do a better job with our own resources and free from the federal intrusion in our policies that are weakening our economy and pushing jobs overseas.
