Issue Position: Healthcare

Issue Position

Preventive care is the key to cost savings at every age of life. John believes we can start by providing healthcare for all our children and expectant mothers. He believes the state can further reduce costs by efficiently delivering services. John will be an advocate that state policy should always be modeled after best practices. John has provided leadership nationally in this area and continues to review State Title V Grants under the Social Security Act, which deal with young children, mothers and expectant mothers. John agrees with those who have said we shall be judged by how we treat our young and our elderly. With millions of baby boomers passing retirement age he believes we need to do more planning and education so that as a state we are prepared for the future and end this "last moment' reactionary legislative response we have too often experienced. Better education and planning in; supplemental health insurance plans and Medicare, long-term care insurance plans, preventative care for an aging population and future care management are needed now.
