Idaho First District Congressman Raúl Labrador released the following statement regarding the passage of H.Con.Res. 25, the FY2014 budget offered by Rep. Paul Ryan, Chairman of the House Budget Committee. This plan balances the budget in 10 years by repealing ObamaCare, cutting discretionary spending and implementing tax reform. It also repairs our insolvent social programs and creates jobs by unlocking American energy sources.

"Washington needs a long-term plan to tackle our nation's debt, rein-in out of control spending and balance the budget. The window of opportunity to prevent a debt crisis will eventually come to a close. Four straight years of operating without a budget have given us trillion dollar deficits, a massive $16.7 trillion debt and have put our nation's economic foundation at risk. The House Republican plan balances our budget in 10 years by getting government spending under control, reducing the size of government and making our tax code simpler. This is a budget that will restore confidence in our economy, and encourage employers to grow their businesses and create new jobs.

"I was pleased to vote for two fiscally responsible budgets--the one developed under the leadership of Paul Ryan as well as the Republican Study Committee (RSC) budget. As a member of the RSC, I support their efforts to build upon the House Republican budget and balance the budget in 4 years. The RSC budget makes appropriate cuts to discretionary spending, eliminates duplicative government programs and repeals the entirety of ObamaCare tax provisions. Both the House Republican budget and the RSC plan offer the leadership decisions we must make now in order to ensure the United States remains a land of prosperity and opportunity."
