Crapo Joins Group Of Senators To Protect Second Amendment

Idaho Senator Mike Crapo has signed a letter, along with other Republican colleagues, to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) reaffirming his opposition to any legislation that would restrict American's Second Amendment rights.

"The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the rights of law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms," Crapo said. "This right was put in place by the founders and has been consistently upheld in the U.S. Supreme Court. I will continue to make sure the people of Idaho's Constitutional rights are not infringed upon."

Authored by Senators Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas), the letter states that the signers "will oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions." Before leaving for the Easter recess, Majority Leader Reid indicated he intends to bring gun control legislation to the Senate floor soon after the Senate returns.
