Statement

Veterans Assistance Session: On Monday, my staff led a Veterans' Assistance Session in Texarkana. Thank you to everyone who attended. I am committed to making sure our veterans get the help and support they deserve. This event was part of a series of similar events my staff will be hosting throughout the district to help those who have served in uniform with a variety of issues. Please continue to check my website for information about future events.
H.R. 324 and the First Special Service Force: I managed the debate and spoke on the House floor in support of H.R. 324, legislation that would grant a Congressional Gold Medal, collectively, to the First Special Service Force, in recognition of its superior service during World War II. The First Special Service Force was the combat unit that we now call the Army Special Forces, or Green Berets.

Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee Hearing: I questioned Ambassador Beth Jones, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near East and former Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, on her knowledge about the September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Be sure to watch part 1 and part 2 of my questioning.

IRS Targeting: As I said last week, I have serious concerns about the targeting of conservative groups by the IRS. Earlier this week, I spoke to KNWA in Ft. Smith about these concerns. Each day we are learning more about the scope of the problem and it continues to get worse. My colleagues and I are working to hold those responsible accountable, but we need your help. If you or anyone you know was targeted by the IRS, please visit this website and submit your story.

Arkansas Catfish Farmers: The Arkansas Catfish Farmers came to town this week with the Catfish Farmers of America! It was great to visit with them in my office on Wednesday afternoon. Later that evening, they hosted a catfish fry with catfish flown in from Arkansas!
