Sinema to Congress: Affordable Care Act Must Be Fixed

Today, Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema made an appeal on the House floor for Congress to work together and fix the Affordable Care Act. Sinema believes most Americans agree that the law needs to be fixed, while protecting important parts of the law that already work, like allowing young adults to remain on their parents' health plan during college. However, she warned that a partisan fight on floor - for the thirty-seventh time - was distracting Congress from working together on critical jobs bills that help put Americans back to work.

"Let's work together to make the law work for American families," said Sinema. "Voting again and again to repeal this law isn't an effective use of taxpayer dollars or the people's time. Instead, let's spend our energy creating jobs for Americans."

Sinema has often been outspoken about the measures in the Affordable Care Act that she does not support, such as rising costs. In 2012, Sinema told the Arizona Republic that she did not support a repeal of the ACA but instead argued that it must be improved to contain costs.

"I believe that we have more work to do contain the costs and increase the accessibility of quality healthcare for everyone," Sinema told the Arizona Republic.

Sinema stood against the partisan fight on the floor and voted no today.
