Griffin's Obamacare Relief Bill Passes with Bipartisan Support

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement after House passage of his bill, the Authority for Mandate Delay Act (H.R. 2667), and Rep. Todd Young's (IN-09) bill, the Fairness for American Families Act (H.R. 2668):

"This legislative package protects workers and families from Obamacare's burdensome mandates. It allows people to keep their health insurance and treats everyone fairly by providing relief to all Americans. I appreciate the Democrats who joined Republicans in voting for my bill, and I urge the Senate to follow our lead and pass this bipartisan legislation soon so that all Americans get the same relief from Obamacare that President Obama has finally provided to businesses and labor unions."

Griffin's bill, the Authority for Mandate Delay Act (H.R. 2667), passed the House with 264 votes, including 35 Democrats. It would delay Obamacare's employer mandate for one year (until January 1, 2015), authorizing the executive action President Obama already announced in a July 2 blog post. Young's legislation, the Fairness for American Families Act (H.R. 2668), passed the House with 251 votes. It would widen the delay to include Obamacare's individual mandate, which is still scheduled to go into effect January 1, 2014.
