Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge(OH-11) released the following statement on Rosh Hashanah which begins at sundown this evening:

"I extend my wishes for a happy and fulfilling New Year for constituents in the Eleventh Congressional District and throughout the world who will gather with friends and family to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. This holiday marks the beginning of the year 5774 in the Hebrew calendar. It serves as a hopeful time to not only anticipate the future but to also celebrate the long and enduring history of the Jewish people. May the spirit of renewal spark a healthy, happy future for the American Jewish community that has enriched not only Northeast Ohio but all facets of American life throughout our great nation."

"I am mindful of U.S. men and women in uniform who will celebrate Rosh Hoshanah, some in harm's way, while serving our nation from their posts throughout the world. I offer my hopes for peace for Israel among the many challenges faced by America's ally in this time of great tumult in the Middle East. To all who look forward to the promise of a brighter tomorrow that begins with a new year , I wish them a Shana Tovah that is both joyful and sweet."
