Karen believes that we have to do a better job of educating our children and preparing them to compete in a global economy. Providing a quality public education is one of the smartest investments our country can make.

In order to make sure our kids are ready for the jobs of tomorrow, we need to make sure that tax money goes to the classroom and for training and retaining good teachers. Karen will fight to protect funding for Head Start so that vulnerable kids enter school ready to learn. And she will be a champion of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education to make sure that students are graduating with skills that can be used in the current economy.

In order to remain globally competitive, our country has to make higher education more affordable and accessible. We need to connect local community colleges with local businesses so workers get the training they need and companies have a strong workforce. With college tuition costs skyrocketing, we need to do everything we can to keep student loan interest rates low so that all students who work hard are given a chance to succeed and build long-term careers in the industries of the future.
