"This highway reauthorization bill is great news for our area," said Congressman Aderholt.

WASHINGTON, March 4, 2005 - Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) today announced that the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has passed legislation including transportation funding for Morgan County and the Decatur-Huntsville area. The funding amounts were included in the six-year transportation reauthorization bill known as TEA-LU, which was passed this week.

The efforts of Congressman Aderholt and Congressman Bud Cramer (D-Huntsville) have resulted in more than $8 million in funding which includes $7 million for the extension of Interstate 565 to Decatur and $1.3 million for the widening and extension of Alabama Highway 36 in Hartselle.

"Both of the projects will offer improvements that truly encourage economic development in our area. They'll also make highway transportation safer," said Congressman Aderholt. "I was pleased to have the opportunity to work with Congressman Cramer on these projects, and I look forward to continuing our work together to improve our area."

The entire House of Representatives is expected to consider the bill next week.
