DeSantis Disappointed Democrats Let Down Veterans

Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) voted today in favor of H.J. Res. 72, the Honoring our Promise to America's Veterans Act. This legislation would have immediately appropriated funds to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to ensure that funding to vital veteran programs would continue during the shutdown. However, Democrats rejected this opportunity to guarantee that our nation's veterans were taken care of, and the legislation failed under a suspension of the rules. DeSantis issued the following statement:

"I was pleased to vote for funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Through their courage and sacrifice, our veterans have earned the support of a grateful nation. I am appalled at the dishonorable conduct of my Democratic colleagues who voted to punish veterans and deny them support."
