Labrador Votes to Keep Government Open, Delay Obamacare for One Year

Statement

Date: Sept. 29, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Raúl Labrador (R-ID) voted for a Continuing Resolution (C.R.) today that would keep the government open past September 30, while delaying ObamaCare for one year and repealing the medical device tax. The C.R. now moves to the Senate, which must pass it in order to avoid a government shutdown. In addition, Rep. Labrador voted for a separate bill to pay U.S. troops in the event of a shutdown.

"Tonight, the House showed its willingness to compromise - passing a C.R. to keep the government open, while also enacting a common-sense one-year delay of ObamaCare," said Rep. Labrador. "The American people already oppose ObamaCare, and for good reason: It's responsible for higher premiums, higher taxes, and fewer jobs. There's no reason we can't delay ObamaCare for one year to prevent this "train wreck' from coming. If the Senate refuses to pass our C.R., they will be putting their political needs ahead of the needs of hard-working Americans."
