Brownsberger Calls for Suspension of Congressional Pay During Shutdown

Democratic 5th District candidate Will Brownsberger said today he would not accept pay during the government shutdown were he currently a Member of Congress, and that he would support legislation suspending the pay of Members of Congress during any future shutdowns.

"A government shutdown is tremendously negative for our nation, affecting services and benefits that all individuals and businesses count on," Brownsberger said. "Government workers are now particularly hurting, without the pay they need to support their families and live their lives. As government workers themselves, and leaders of our country, Members of Congress should experience the same pain, setting an example and showing solidarity with those most impacted."
