From the Campaign Trail

Statement

Date: Sept. 30, 2013

Election Day is October 19th, just 20 days away. Early voting begins this Saturday…and we had another busy week and weekend on the campaign trail in District 5!

Last week, we crossed the district attending events in North LA, Central LA and Washington Parish. The outpouring of support from voters across the state is humbling and very encouraging.

In Rapides, we met with supporters at the Alexandria Kiwanis Club. Those in attendance voiced their concern over Obamacare and the federal government's intrusion into our everyday lives.

Next, we crossed the district and visited with voters at a meet and greet in the Florida parishes. Turnout was great…and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and conversation.

Voters are ready to to get America back on track. They are ready to defund and repeal Obamacare, secure our borders, restore fiscal sanity and support policies that lead to job creation. The Washington crowd says we can't get it done, but you and I know we can!

On Wednesday, our campaign launched its second television ad. The theme: In Washington, I won't become part of the inside crowd. I will represent the people of the Fifth District, fight to repeal Obamacare and support passing a balanced budget.

Thursday night, I was honored to receive two awards from the Louisiana Family Forum at its annual "Legislative Awards Banquet." I received the "Life and Liberty" award for my effort to protect our Second Amendment rights through Lousisiana's Constitutional Amendment 2 of 2012. I also received the "Family Advocate" award for my consistent family values voting record in the Louisiana Senate. I was unable to attend the banquet, but my wife, Vicki, was there in my place. Thanks to Gene Mills and the Family Forum for all that they do for our state, and for making Vicki feel so welcome.

On Saturday, I attended two Relay for Life events and it was great to see such strong turnouts. Relay for Life is such a great cause and affects so many people each and every day. Thank you to all who came out to show their support!

I believe in those "old-fashioned" American values: faith, family, marriage, life, fiscal responsibility, limited government and the Constitution.

I have stood with you. Please stand with me now as the campaign reaches this crucial point.

Thank you very much.

Neil
