A special budget panel was created as part of the deal to reopen the federal government for several months. Sen. Bernie Sanders spoke to Vermont Public Radio's Bob Kinzel about the senator's new position on the panel that "will put him right in the middle of a national debate over the proper level of federal spending and appropriate tax policies." Sanders said it is important to reduce the deficit in a way that is fair to working families.
