Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement in response to the decision made by the Board Members of Covered California to uphold the original deadline for ending health plans that do not meet the new basic standards under the Affordable Care Act:

"Due to unrelenting focus to help new and existing consumers, Covered California is leading the nation in enrolling Americans into quality affordable health insurance plans. The Board's decision to require insurance companies to provide essential health benefits and consumer protections will help ensure affordability and stability in California's health insurance marketplace."
