Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on Announcement of Michigan Manufacturing Innovation Institute

Statement

Date: Feb. 25, 2014

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today after President Barack Obama announced a new manufacturing innovation institute in Michigan:

"I was happy to join President Obama at the White House as he announced this new, federal investment in Michigan. This manufacturing innovation institute is a public-private partnership that will bring 10,000 new jobs to Michigan and pump hundreds of millions of dollars in much-need economic investment into our state's economy. Since being elected to Congress, I have continually engaged with the White House about locating a manufacturing institute in our great state, including talking directly to the President about it last March. I applaud the Obama Administration for today's important and cutting-edge investment.

"Our state -- where the automotive industry was born -- has a proud manufacturing history. This state-of-the-art investment not only recognizes our states' strong manufacturing heritage, but also ensures Michigan will continue to play a vital role in building American products in the future. When we make things in America, Michiganders win."
