Becerra on the 51st Vote to Repeal and Undermine the Affordable Care Act

Statement

Date: March 14, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Xavier Becerra, Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement today after the House of Representatives voted for the 51st time to repeal or dismantle the Affordable Care Act, the nation's health security law:

"There appears to be no end in sight to House Republicans' partisan games with Americans' health security. Today's effort would not only undermine the Affordable Care Act, but it risks our seniors' access to their doctors.

"Congress needs to address the Medicare doc fix before the end of this month, but this bill is not the way to do it. It jeopardizes the bipartisan, bicameral work done towards passing a permanent solution. And even though the health security law has given millions of Americans access to affordable, dependable healthcare, Republicans find new and ill-advised ways of neglecting the people's priorities. Let's get back to genuine bipartisan work so our seniors are not faced with needless interruptions in their health care."
