Issue Position

Cesar Chavez stated that "we need, in a special way, to work twice as hard to make all people understand that animals are fellow creatures, that we must protect them and love them as we love ourselves. And that's the basis for peace. The basis for peace is respecting all creatures."
I agree with Chavez and share his passion for protecting animals. Whether in Montgomery County or the rest of our state, as your delegate I'll support efforts to prevent cruelty and promote compassion to all animals. For example:
I supported the recent successful bill to help owners of friendly pit bulls in our state
I support efforts to take the pollution stemming from poultry factory farms near the Bay seriously
I support spay/neuter efforts of pets. Rosalyn and I live with a rescue dog named Montgomery and an a cat named Leonidas
I participate in US VegWeek--sponsored by District 20-based nonprofit Compassion Over Killing--a week surrounding Earth Day during which I eat vegetarian meals as a way to help conserve resources
I will fight for the protection of all animals, whether they be domesticated or wild, including animals who are raised for food.
