Issue Position: Unemployed and Underemployed Residents

Issue Position

Support and fund retraining efforts to give unemployed and underemployed residents an opportunity to succeed

It is critical we equip Michigan workers with the right sets of skills and training to seize new opportunities in the emerging economy. Jeremy will work to make sure displaced workers acquire the skills required to work in areas of most need in this ever-changing 21 century economy.

Many workers hope to enter and grow in one career path until retirement. However, as we know all too well in Michigan, an unstable economic climate has caused many employers to downsize or simply shut their doors, displacing many of their employees.

Jeremy will work to give displaced adults the dignity and skills to allow them to work in the areas of most in need in our state.

As a City Councilman, Jeremy has consistently voted to accept grant funding for the Southfield Career Center to assist putting dislocated workers back to work and provide employers with help they need in finding employees to fill job vacancies. [more information]

With that same respect for the unemployed and underemployed, Jeremy will seek opportunities to grow our economy and create jobs as State Representative.
