Issue Position: Agriculture

Issue Position

Michigan is an important farming state and always will be. The current national issue of food stamps in a farm bill is a stain on agriculture. Farm bills need to be dealt with on their own. Unfortunately, the U.S. Congress just passed one farm bill with food stamp cuts contained in the bill instead of passing split bills. They are separate issues and need to be dealt with separately. Farmers must be given the tools they need to keep providing a huge boost to the Michigan and national economy and the best way to do that is to keep food stamps and other issues out of farm bills.
